As a college track and field athlete, you know the importance of patience, preparation, and persistence. You train for months—sometimes years—for a single moment of competition. But what if I told you that God is working in your life the same way? Even when you don’t see it, He is preparing you, guiding you, and setting the stage for something bigger than you can imagine.
God Is Always Working
Jesus made it clear in John 5:17:
“My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.”
God’s work doesn’t stop just because we don’t see immediate results. Think about planting a seed. A farmer doesn’t see growth right away, but deep beneath the soil, something is happening. In the same way, God is moving in our lives—even in the unseen moments.
Trusting God’s Timing
Look at how God worked in the life of Moses. It is a journey that reflects how God works behind the scenes:
- Before Moses Knew It – Even when Moses was just a baby, God was positioning him for a greater purpose (Exodus 2:1-10).
- In the Wilderness – Moses spent 40 years in the desert, thinking he was forgotten. But God was shaping his character and preparing him for leadership (Exodus 2:11-25).
- At the Burning Bush – When Moses finally encountered God, he realized that the calling wasn’t about his own plans—it was about stepping into God’s work (Exodus 3:1-12).
- Through Every Obstacle – Even when Pharaoh resisted, God used challenges to show His power and grow Moses’ faith (Exodus 7-14).
- In the Miracles – When the Israelites faced the Red Sea with no way forward, God parted the waters. Just because we don’t see a way doesn’t mean God hasn’t already made one (Exodus 14:10-31).
God Is Working Today
Maybe you want to be used by God. You want to be a part of what He is doing but you’re feeling stuck—struggling with training, school, or relationships. Maybe you’re questioning your purpose. But just like Moses, God is preparing you for something greater.
Just as God called Moses to join Him, He is calling us today. He is moving in our families, churches, workplaces, and communities. Are we paying attention? Are we ready to step into His plan?
God is always at work. He is moving in ways we often fail to see, and He invites us to join Him in His work.
Henry Blackaby, in Experiencing God, teaches that we should ask, Where is God already at work, and how can I join Him? John 5:17
How Can You Join God’s Work?
- Pay attention – Where do you see open doors? Maybe someone is asking questions about faith and you can be there to help. Maybe someone just needs a friend.
- Be patient – Relationships take time. Trust God’s timing, not yours.
- Step out in faith – God doesn’t need you to be perfect—just available.
- Pray for direction – Ask God to show you where He’s working and how you can join Him.
God is at work—are you ready to join Him? He can use you to touch lives and make a difference.
God Bless!
