No Purpose – No Vision!

Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Purpose and vision are intricately connected. Without purpose, there can be no vision, and without vision, we lose direction. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us of God’s faithfulness and intentional plans for our lives, even in seasons of uncertainty. Whether you’re in a season of joy or struggle, God’s purpose remains constant—He is writing a story for His glory and our good.

1. Transformation Brings Purpose:
Purpose often begins with transformation. Just as the Israelites discovered in exile, God uses difficult seasons to shape us. Think of Nehemiah, who wept for the broken walls of Jerusalem. His deep burden led to a transformational event where God’s purpose became clear—to rebuild and restore. Similarly, moments of struggle or unexpected encounters with God—like Paul’s on the road to Damascus—can reveal the purpose He has for us.

2. Purpose Leads to Vision:
Transformation is the starting point, but purpose directs us toward vision. Ryan Hall, an Olympic runner, discovered his God-given purpose during a grueling run around Big Bear Lake at age 13. In that quiet moment of exhaustion, God spoke to his heart, setting him on a path to compete with the world’s best runners. For Ryan, his purpose was the foundation of his vision.(“Run the Mile You Are In – Finding God in Every Step”)

3. How Do We Find Purpose?
Ask yourself: What touches your heart? What brings you closer to God? Purpose often starts with a burden aligned with God’s heart, like Nehemiah’s love for his people and Jerusalem. Whether it’s in relationships, work, or ministry, transformational events can clarify the steps you need to take. We find our purpose in prayer and spending time with God.

Take a moment to reflect on your life’s transformational events. How have they revealed your purpose? Are you seeking God’s direction for a renewed vision in this season? Like Nehemiah, start with prayer, fasting, and aligning your heart with God’s will.

God is the author of your story. Seek Him in your transformation, embrace your purpose, and step into the vision He has for you. Purpose gives your life meaning, and vision gives you direction. Let’s walk in God’s plan for us, individually and as a body of Christ, to glorify Him in all we do.

God Bless!
