Bring It In!

There are two things I look forward to during a cross country meet. I love watching the teams warm up as they roll through the course together as a picture of unity and strength. Then, minutes before the gun goes off they do something crucial—they “bring it in.” The runners huddle together, forming a close circle. The coach may summarize the strategy and offer words of encouragement and the team may pray together before they break with a rally cry. It’s an exciting moment full of anticipation as they head to the line.

The phrase “bring it in” is not only relevant in sports. Just as teams come together to strengthen their unity and focus, so we are called to “bring it in” in our spiritual lives.

In Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 we read, “Two are better than one… A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Just as a sports team gathers for strength and alignment, so we gather in faith to encourage and support each other. Alone, we might stumble but together, we are strengthened.

When we “bring it in” as believers, we are reminded that our faith is not  a solo journey but a shared one. We are connected, not only by our common purpose but by our shared love of Christ. In the huddle we find resilience, strength, and courage to face challenges that, on our own, might seem overwhelming.

Athletes are “Bringing It In” on Mondays at 4:30 for a time of prayer and encouragement. We meet in the Recruiting Room across from the Champions Club. Hope to see you there.

God Bless!
