Everyone a Leader

Wait! Can everyone be a leader?  Leadership comes through an awareness of self and a confidence in one’s talent or gifting. God has created us with unique gifts and strengths.  Every member of a team can lead through their strengths. Each athlete has a unique gift set with a natural propensity to standout among others.

It is much the same in the Body of Christ. The apostle Paul speaks to this in Romans, Chapter 12:

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your[a] faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead,[b] do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Leadership is not always declared through the fastest, the smartest nor the strongest. A team is not a true team without everyone contributing.  Paul makes that point very clear in the following comments.

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

You can be a leader through your gifting/strengths.  Find that one strength that stands out among the rest and walk in it.  Others will follow.

Let’s pray:  “Father bring to us an awareness of the gifts which you have woven into the fabric of our lives.  Help us to bring that gift or strength to our teammates.  Our overriding goal is to see our team perform with a Championship mindset.  Help us to help others be the best that they can be.”  Amen

Keep seeking after Him!
