Negative “U”

All of us have a tendency to enroll in classes at Negative “U”niversity.  The curricula is loaded with courses like, “I Can’t Do This!”; “I’m not happy with who I am.”; “I can’t do anything right.”; “I’m such a failure.”; “I might as well go back to bed.”; “I’ll never follow through.”; “I can’t compete.”; I have no confidence!”  Self talk courses like these can lead you to a Masters in Anxiety.

God’s curriculum is centered in verses like “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts AND YOUR MINDS in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:6-7

2 Corinthians 10:5 tells us that we are to “demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

Taking your thoughts captive simply means gaining control over what you think about yourself and life.

What you put in your mind has an exponential impact on your thoughts and actions. God has provided a way to overcome unhealthy thoughts and behaviors,  and gain the self-control you seek. It’s a matter of taking charge of your life – His way.  Do some homework.  Research God’s Word and look for verses that speak life into your spirit and affirm you as a conqueror with your victory In Christ.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

So, transfer out of Negative “U” and enroll “In Christ”.  “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”  Philippians 4:13

Let’s pray: “Father, thank you that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, both in body and in mind. Although you have created us, it is up to us to make the right decisions in fueling ourselves physically. Help us to fuel ourselves mentally with thoughts grounded in truth as to who we are in Christ, your Son.” Amen

Keep Seeking after Him!
