Summer training is not for the uncommitted. You made your commitment in June and now the August sun is bearing down adding an even greater challenge for you to finish strong. It’s time to recommit!
It’s been several years since I’ve run the 400 meters competitively as a Masters athlete. My strategy at the 200 meter mark was to RECOMMIT. I attacked the next 100 meters with a strong secondary drive phase, staying as relaxed as I could. That 100 meters made the difference.
How did I do? Well, at age 65, I managed a 60.07 mark in the 400 meters. So, I know what it means to work and train hard. Which you have done all summer. Now it is time to Recommit and Finish Strong in your training.
There are times when we need to recommit spiritually. In our prayer time or in our time in the Word. Paul says, in Philippians 3:14, “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
Let’s pray: “Father, it continues to be our desire to draw closer to you and come to know you in a deeper and richer experience. Thank you that it is by Grace that we enter into a right relationship with you and not because of our works and effort. But, we do strive within ourselves to please you and to draw near to you. As we face the ‘200 meter mark’, help us to reach out to you in faith knowing that you will bring us through to that intimate relationship we desire. Amen.”
Hey! Be seeing you on campus soon! God Bless!
